Karin Danger works as a singer-songwriter, comedian, composer, musical director and piano bar hostess. Her talents spread across the genres of Cabaret, Theatre, Stand-Up and Burlesque – even though she’s never got her tits out for cash.


Her self-written and -produced musical works include Give My Regards To Broady, co-written with James Simpson, (2008 and 2011), World War Wonderful (2009-2012), Better At A Distance (2007), First Against The Wall (2010), Filthy Secrets, co-written with Nick Caddaye, (2011) an Adelaide tour of her career revue show On Reflection (2011) and a UK tour of Hot Box (2013). 


Since 2009 Karin has worked as head lyricist, co-composer and musical director on Dumped – The Musical We’ve All Been Through for Theatre Tours Australia. The show premiered in Brisbane and toured Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne in 2011. She also worked as a musical theatre tutor at the National Theatre Drama School (2009-2014), as composer for St Martin’s Youth Theatre’s Complaints Choir (2009) and as arranger and conductor for The Choir Of Hard Knockers (2013). Karin was thrilled to work on the band scores of Flowerchildren: The Mamas And The Papas Story for their season at The Comedy Theatre Melbourne (2013).


Karin works as an improvised singer and pianist with corporate improv comedy group The Crew (of which she is now Artistic Director). She worked as an improv musician on the TV Show TheatreGames LIVE (C31) and co-created Set List: The Improvised Musical Phenomenon – a theatrical format in which a band creates songs from scratch live on stage – with Dan Walmsley. She has also performed with Spontaneous Broadway.


Karin has enjoyed taking part in the Melbourne Cabaret Festival, producing three shows in two years for their program – World War Wonderful and the acclaimed Filthy Secrets in 2011, and Australian Horror Story (co-written and -devised by Karlis Zaid) in 2012. Karin has proudly supported the festival as a musical contributor to its Pozible campaign and by writing and performing the opening number “Underground” for the Cabaret Festival’s TV documentary 2013.


Karin has worked as music supervisor on Vicious Fish Theatre’s Fourplay (2011) and Steam Productions’ Ruby Moon (2012). She provided sessional music for Girls Uninterrupted (2012) and was musical director and pianist for Jason Coleman’s Diamonds! at the Spiegeltent (2013).


Karin has performed on ABC Radio, 3MBS and JoyFM, written for Beat Magazine and appeared on the TV shows Planet Nerd, The Breakfast Show and Rockwiz. She has sung comedy songs at The Arts Centre’s Cabaret Forum (2008) The Upfront showcase for female comedians at the Melbourne Town Hall (2009), The Arts Centre’s Club Spiegel soirées (2012) and the Australian High Commission (UK) Going For Gold showcase, representing the country alongside Denise Scott, Virginia Gay and the Australian Defence Force Band (2012).


Karin currently lives in New Orleans and works as an amusing pianist on cruise ships around the world. Her favourite project is her family band The Von Muiznieks Family Singers with her siblings Simon and Emma.

2012 – Shortlisted, People’s Choice Award Edinburgh Fringe Festival (World War Wonderful).
